Moving Pets

Are you ready to relocate, but have not yet decided how to transport your pets?

Moving pets can be a very stressful process. Your pets are your best friends and you love them dearly. Our pets are loyal and loving and they therefore deserve only the best from us. It does not matter how old, big or small your pets are, J.H. Retief will ensure that your pets enjoy a smooth, comfortable journey to their new home.

Your pets are part of your family. They are therefore experiencing the same stress when moving. Generally, the home is their habitat, both day and night and they are very sensitive to changes in their environment. When faced with an unfamiliar situation, your pet can become distressed.

Moving Pets
With careful planning, moving pets can be made easier and less stressful for both you and your pets. Your furry friends are transported effortlessly by air in comfortable custom-built kennels. We only use outsourced professional pet transport companies, and we do not transport pets in our trucks.

We will help you to organize the transportation and kenneling of your pets with the minimum amount of upset or discomfort.

Tips on moving with your pet

  • First of all, schedule an examination with your veterinarian in advance as airport regulations are very strict.
  • Don’t move your pets while they are sick since the stress can make their illness worse which could be harmful to their health.
  • Your veterinarian may suggest a sedative to ensure that your pet is comfortable during the move.
  • Remember to update your pets’ identification tags and obtain copies of health and vaccination records.
  • J.H. RETIEF will NEVER transport your pets in their vehicles. It is unsafe, cruel, uncomfortable and totally unprofessional.
  • Try including their favourite toy or blanket? It will create a feeling of security and familiarity.
Book a direct flight if you are travelling by plane. If your pet is travelling in freight, it is likely that they may be sitting outside with the freight for a long periods of time in between flights. If the weather is either too hot or too cold, your pet may suffer. An insulated crate will certainly help this situation if it cannot be avoided.
